Tuesday 9:30 a.m. Functional Yoga

This virtual online class uses a combination of movement and held postures connected with purposeful breath to improve overall strength, flexibility and balance of mind and body. Typically this is a mix of sun salutations, standing and balancing postures, twists, backbends, and more all combined with deep, rich, rhythmic breath work. Rita demonstrates and encourages you to work at your own comfort level and intensity so that you leave class calmer, clearer and ready to take on the day. Active beginning yoga students and up will enjoy this class.

Thursday 9:00 a.m. Functional Yoga

A similar version of Tuesday’s class. This class is in person outside at Hidden Lake Gardens or held inside the visitors center during cold and wet weather.

Rita earned her first 200-hour certification in 2000 from Johnny Kest, who is now the lead yoga trainer for Life Time, Inc.  She has stayed current with multiple trainings and certifications in pursuit of her passion. For the last decade, she has studied and incorporated movement-based science trainings and she is certified through Tuneup Fitness and Gray Institute Functional Yoga. She loves combining the philosophy of yoga and the love of nature with modern movement science to create a practice that works for each individual in our modern-day lives.

This morning’s class was SO awesome!!!! They are all wonderful, but it FINALLY clicked in place for me. I came to class rushed, running late, not feeling good (bad headache) and left headache-free, relaxed (feeling “intoxicated”) and I’m having a fantastic day. …My goal was to get relaxed in class and boy, did I!

I started going to Flow Yoga taught by Rita Adams quite a while ago. I wanted a local provider that fit with my schedule. I knew that yoga was the way to gain flexibility and reduce the likelihood of certain injuries, especially [of my] back. What I’ve gained in addition to [that] is a much firmer core and toned arms. I look forward to my weekly sessions.

During the last decade, I have had the great good fortune of happening upon some of the most exacting and devoted teachers of the discipline. … Last summer I had the chance to participate in one of Rita’s classes. Now I am a devotee, traveling about an hour every week…to learn from Rita.
